Privacy policy

What we collect, and only when you give it

We do not require an account and we do not track you across other websites. You give us information in exactly three situations:

  • Requesting a quote. Your name, email address, and — if you provide them — phone number, ZIP code, the service you need and your message. We also record which page you submitted from, and the exact consent wording shown to you at that moment.
  • Writing a review. Your display name, email address, rating and review text. We store a hashed form of your IP address and your browser user-agent to detect coordinated fake reviews. The raw IP address is not stored.
  • Contacting us — including suggesting a business, reporting a listing or a review, or joining the advertiser waitlist.

Who we share it with

Quote requests come to us, and stop there. A quote request is delivered to our own inbox and nowhere else. We do not pass your details on to tree service businesses — not automatically, and not by hand. Connecting you with businesses is what the form is meant for eventually; if we build that, we will update this policy before it goes live and give you a way to opt out first.

Your review display name and review text are published on the site. Your email address is never published and is used only to confirm the review is genuine.

We use service providers to run the site: Supabase (database hosting), Vercel (application hosting and privacy-friendly analytics), Resend (transactional email) and, if enabled, Cloudflare Turnstile (spam prevention). We do not sell your personal information.

Phone and SMS consent

If you tick the consent box on a quote form, you are agreeing that we and the businesses you contacted may reach you by phone and SMS, including by automated means. Consent is never a condition of using the site, the box is never pre-ticked, and we store the exact wording you agreed to alongside your request. You can withdraw consent at any time by replying STOP to a message or emailing us.

Cookies and analytics

We use a privacy-friendly analytics tool that does not set advertising cookies and does not build a cross-site profile of you. We measure page views and a small number of events — quote submitted, phone number tapped, review submitted — so we know which pages are useful.

The only cookie the site sets is a session cookie for the administrator login. There are no third-party advertising scripts on this site.

How long we keep it

  • Quote requests: retained so we can resolve disputes about consent.
  • Reviews you never confirmed: deleted automatically after 7 days.
  • Published reviews: retained while the listing exists.
  • Rejected reviews: retained with the reason, as an audit record.

Your choices

Email support@thetreepros.com to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We will act on deletion requests for quote requests and reviews. Depending on where you live you may have additional statutory rights; tell us and we will honour them.

Business listings are a separate matter — those describe companies, not individuals. To correct or remove a listing, use the “report an issue” link on it or contact us.

Your rights under state privacy laws

Some states, California among them, give residents specific rights over their personal information. We extend these to everyone who asks, wherever you live — running two standards would be more work than honouring one.

  • Know. Ask what personal information we hold about you, where it came from, and who we have shared it with.
  • Delete. Ask us to delete it. We will, except where we have to keep something to resolve a dispute about consent you gave.
  • Correct. Ask us to fix anything inaccurate.
  • No retaliation. We will not give you a worse experience for exercising any of these.

On selling and sharing. We do not sell your personal information, and today there is nothing to opt out of: quote requests come to our own inbox and are not passed to any tree service business. If we start sharing quote requests with businesses, you will be able to opt out of that sharing, whatever it turns out to be called legally, and we will update this policy before it starts.

To make any request — including an opt-out you want on record in advance — email support@thetreepros.com. We will confirm it by replying to the email address we already hold for you, and respond within 45 days.
